Charles is gecast in het tweede seizoen van de advocaten serie ‘For The People’. Hierbij keert hij terug naar Shondaland aangezien de serie is bedacht door Shonda Rhimes die ook verantwoordelijk is voor ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. Waar hij ook korte gastrol in heeft gehad 5 jaar geleden.

Charles Michael Davis (The Originals, Younger) is returning to Shondaland, ABC and ABC Studios. Davis, whose first major role was an arc on Shonda Rhimes’ medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, is joining the cast of another Shondaland ABC series, legal drama For the People, as a series regular for its upcoming second season.

Making his debut in the Season 2 premiere, Davis will play Ted, the new investigator in the Public Defender’s office.

Created by Paul Williams Davies, For the People is set in the Southern District of New York Federal Court, aka “The Mother Court,” and follows new lawyers working for both the defense and the prosecution as they handle the most high-profile and high-stakes cases in the country – all as their personal lives intersect.

Davis joins a cast that includes Britt Robertson, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Ben Rappaport, Susannah Flood, Wesam Keesh, Regé-Jean Page, Ben Shenkman, Hope Davis, Vondie Curtis-Hall and Anna Deavere Smith. Davies and Rhimes exec produce alongside Betsy Beers and Tom Verica.

Davis is a series regular on Darren Star’s popular cable dramedy series Younger, which is moving from TV Land to Paramount Network for its upcoming sixth season. Davis, who joined as a recurring in Season 4, playing Zane Anders, was promoted to series regular in Season 5 and will continue on the show, whose filming schedule does not interfere with For the People, set to return in midseason.

Davis segued to Younger after his starring turn as Marcel Gerard on the CW’s The Originals where he was a series regular for the series’ entire five-season run.

Davis, who played Dr. Jason Myers in Season 9 of Grey’s Anatomy, is repped by Gersh and Mary Erickson Management.

As far as Matt Donovan is concerned, Mystic Falls is his town. After all, he grew up there. That’s where he fell in love with Elena, where he was quarterback of the football team, and where he somehow remained human for eight seasons of The Vampire Diaries, despite the fact that nearly everyone he loved either died or became undead. Not to mention that by the end of the series, Matt (played by Zach Roerig) was the new sheriff in town, a role he still fills when the new Vampire Diaries and The Originals spin-off Legacies premieres. Except now, he’s got a firm stance on supernatural creatures.

“For the first time, Matt Donovan isn’t torn by a commitment to protecting his best friends against other people in their peer group,” showrunner Julie Plec says. “His singular goal is to keep the supernatural business on the DL, if not out of Mystic Falls, and to protect the town. So that puts him continually at odds with Alaric and the kids at the school. He says very clearly in an early episode, ‘If I get so much as a wind of your kids causing any trouble, I will come for them.’ So he’s both friend and antagonist at the same time.”

After all, the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted might seem harmless enough — a bunch of supernatural teens trying to navigate life — but Matt, of all people, knows that even the supernatural beings with the best intentions can make mistakes. (Let’s not forget that he lost his sister because of vampires.)

“The point of this series is that every single one of these kids has enough darkness inside of them that they could end up being the big bad of a season,” Plec continues. “And yet, on a daily basis, the show is about them fighting for the best version of themselves. So for somebody like Matt Donovan, he wants to give them the benefit of the doubt, but he also has a bit of a zero-tolerance policy because he knows what they’re capable of.”

With Alaric serving as the protector of these kids — he’s headmaster at the Salvatore School — he might find himself facing off with the sheriff. “You’ll see Matt Donovan draw a line and Alaric draw a line, and they know where they stand,” says Matthew Davis, who plays Alaric. “It’s about keeping the peace, and if the peace can’t be met, then there’s gonna be hell to pay, and I think their friendship will be on the sacrificial altar if things don’t work out.”

After all, this isn’t the exact same Matt Donovan that fans will remember. This is a guy who’s spent the majority of his very human life surrounded by supernatural beings, and that changes a guy. “He’s going a bit insane at this point,” Roerig says. “He kind of went off the deep end. We see him in the future a little more frazzled and a little out of his mind from the vampires. He’s crazy sheriff Matt Donovan.”

Living her best life! Torrey DeVitto gushed exclusively to Us Weekly about her relationship with her boyfriend, Jesse Lee Soffer.

“It’s great, we felt like we were out in the open. It’s really great,” the Chicago Med star revealed at Us Weekly’s Most Stylish New Yorkers party on Wednesday, September 12. “Everything’s going so well. I’m really happy, [the] happiest I’ve ever been.”

Us broke the news in August that DeVitto and Soffer, both 34, are dating. A friend close to the duo, who are both a part of NBC’s Chicago franchise, previously told Us that the pair “complement each other beautifully.”

DeVitto also dished to Us at Wednesday night’s party at the Magic Hour rooftop in New York City about Netflix and chill date nights with Soffer.

“Honestly, watch a really good show and just be at home, I think that’s what’s really great. We’re both equal parts homebodies,” she explained, noting that the pair are currently watching John Krasinski’s new Amazon Prime series, Jack Ryan.

Earlier this month, Soffer confirmed his relationship with DeVitto exclusively to Us. “It’s great,” he gushed at NBC’s press day in NYC on September 6. “It’s awesome.”

DeVitto was previously linked to Dancing With the Stars pro Artem Chigvintsev. The former One Tree Hill star was married to Paul Wesley from 2011 to 2013. Soffer previously dated his Chicago P.D. costar Sophia Bush.
