With one season left in The Vampire Diaries’ run, we decided it was time to start collecting everyone’s final diary entries. Every week during the final season, EW is asking those involved with the show to look back on one of their favorite moments from the series. So grab your tissues and join us on this trip down a vampire-filled memory lane.

This week, Phoebe Tonkin remembers the introduction of Hayley…

I knew I was going to do the Vampire Diaries spin-off from the moment I signed up. So whatever character I was going to play on Vampire Diaries was going to be in the spin-off if we ended up being able to shoot that pilot. I knew that. No one else knew that, so it was hard to keep that a secret. I think everyone was like, “Who is this Australian girl?” And I’m like, “I promise I’m going to be sticking around for a while!”

It was a real whirlwind because even though I was on on Secret Circle, it was in Canada and so I didn’t actually have a Visa until the day before I started work on Vampire Diaries, so all I was really focused on was getting to Canada, getting my Visa, and making it back in time to shoot my first day.

My first day was with Michael Trevino and Joseph Morgan, and luckily I kind of knew a lot of the cast — it didn’t feel like I was walking completely into a new environment, and everyone was so welcoming. My first scene was where we meet Hayley, and the second scene I did that day was with Joseph where we meet for the first time.

On Vampire Diaries, in one day, they’re shooting two episodes, and the scene with Joe, he was needed on another set so my actual lines are to a stand-in and not to Joseph because he was needed doing some other debaucherous activity on a different stage. So I had a very sweet stand-in read his line and I had to pretend it was Joseph.

I definitely mainly worked with Joe and Michael. I did a scene with Paul [Wesley], I obviously did a couple with Candice [King], I did one scene with Nina [Dobrev], but none with Ian [Somerhalder]. I would have liked to have done one with Ian and then I would’ve had the whole trifecta of the gang.

There were a lot of days out in the beautiful Lockwood mansion, where it was me and Candice and everyone was there. Those were always for me the most fun days because that group is such a family and they have such a family dynamic. It was fun to be part of that.

I didn’t even really know much about Hayley when I signed on. I knew that she was a little mysterious, that she had a bit of a darker past. I didn’t know that much about what she was going to do while in New Orleans. That was all news to me as we got the scripts.

I remember Joe and I were kind of the only ones who knew we were doing the spin-off and we heard a couple of rumors about a baby. We really had no idea what the premise of the spin-off was going to be; we just knew it was going to happen. Then I remember hearing about the pregnancy and being like, “Well that makes sense why Klaus and Hayley had a little bit of a romantic tryst on a dining room table. That serves that purpose.”

It’s kind of crazy to think how long ago it was. I definitely remember The Originals backdoor pilot. That was the first time I started working with Daniel Gillies and we shot a little bit in New Orleans.

I remember the fan reaction to Hayley wasn’t particularly positive. I was essentially coming between the two stan favorite couples, Tyler and Caroline, and then of course, Klaus and Caroline. And then when Hayley sided with Klaus and he killed all those people on her behalf, the fans were definitely very vocal. I remember I was very scared about what the reaction was going to be to my first airing night, but I definitely think that with The Originals we’ve luckily been able to explore the character and her reasons for doing certain things and making certain decisions.

Obviously, my time on Vampire Diaries was very special and was a big launching pad for the next four years of my life. I’m very, very grateful.

This week, Candice King talks about her time playing Caroline Forbes…

I remember that while filming the pilot, it was one or the other: The show was either not going to work and everyone’s over vampires, or it was going to be a really big f–king deal. But it was also my first pilot, so that was already a big deal to me. That was huge. But everyone really, really wanted it to work out, so there was a lot of hope and a lot of excitement and it would’ve been very disappointing had it not worked out. From the get-go, people had that anticipation of this is going to be a really life-changing experience.

The writers have kept Caroline interesting over the years. I am grateful that she’s always had a very strong arc. Even in moments where that arc has been in support of another character and what another character’s processing, I feel like it’s been beneficial to Caroline growing as an individual. With her turning into a vampire, I thought that was such a fun and beautiful, defining arc for her. It was still so early on in the series that I just wanted to keep my job and I wanted the character to stay alive, even if that meant that she had to become dead to do so. I just really loved being here and I didn’t want to have to leave, so I feel like it was a great opportunity and a big step up for that character, so going to work I just was so eager to learn and do my best every way I could. Not that I still don’t do that eight years later, but maybe it’s a little different, a little bit more comfortable now.

And then I loved that in season 6 I was still going to work excited and intimidated and challenged with Caroline’s story line being that her mom was passing away from cancer. And then on top of that, all the different love interests over the years and on top of that, the fact that it’s a very high action-packed series. So playing a vampire, I’ve been able to be a part of a lot of stunts and locations and blood and gore and prosthetics — things that you wouldn’t normally do in a non-supernatural series.

I think where the show really excels and people get excited is with the flashbacks and the big scenes that seem impossible to pull off, which are usually the finales or the season openers. But I think as a viewer, where the show would excel would be the ability to keep people tuned in even on commercial breaks.

Ian laat ook via social media weten dat Nina en zijn vrouw Nikki geen ruzie hebben. Hierbij laat hij weten dat ze elkaar nog niet goed kende toen hij wat met Nikki kreeg en dat er door de valse verhalen in media een afstand tussen Nina en Nikki bestond. Na zo’n twee jaar zijn de dames samen met Ian uit eten gegaan om het één en ander uit te praten.

“Chilling with these two… After years of websites pretending these two badass ladies knew each other well and baseless, false information of back stabbing and hatred from low-brow websites filled the minds and hearts of fans. They finally were able to get together for their first real dinner. Let’s stop spreading hate everyone, there’s already too much of that right now in our world. Join in on the love. Only love here- always has been always will be. Media companies preying on the passion from vulnerable and or impressionable minds of fans to sell advertising through click-though traffic is a disease in our society. It’s poisonous. Let’s finish this series with respect and kindness and continue that in our lives. I think it’s time. What do think?”

Nina en Nikki Reed, de vrouw van Ian hebben via hun social media dat ze geen ruzie met elkaar hebben. Nadat Nikki enkele jaren terug een relatie kreeg met Ian gingen er geruchten in de media de ronde dat het tweetal ruzie zou hebben en dat dit de reden zou zijn geweest dat Nina stopte met ‘The Vampire Diaries’. Ze zou namelijk niet meer kunnen samen werken met Ian met wie ze ook een relatie heeft gehad. Afgelopen week is het drietal uit eten geweest en laten ze weten dat er niets aan de hand is.

Nikki Reed: “For the last few years we thought addressing any baseless rumors with silence was the best way. Besides, who wants to respond to made up stories about “friends backstabbing friends”, “cheating exes”, or “cast members exiting shows” on low-brow websites like hollywoodlife that are just perpetuating trends that preceded us. Yuck. I now see that silence was taken as an opportunity to fill in the blanks with even more falsities, and juicer stories, and we, yes WE, believe we have a moral responsibility to young girls to end that narrative, because at the end of all of this, those young girls are the ones who lose. Their passion and endless devotion for a tv show is being taken advantage of, replaced with feelings of anger through divisive techniques, & even worse, their minds are being shaped & molded as their view of themselves, other girls, & what those dynamics should look like are being formed. So here’s to putting an end to all those fake stories of on set jealousy, betrayal, made-up-friendships lost & women hating women. Because at the end of the day, that’s what this is about: teaching girls that you have to hate other girls only breeds a generation of women who believe you have to hate other women. And that’s what these magazines, websites and blogs don’t understand. That is the harmful unintended consequence of their bullshit stories and we have a moral responsibility to fix that. Let’s turn this page together, as we all walk into the next chapter peacefully. And finally, let’s use this as an example of how important it is to stop this trend of writing horrible headlines about women, painting us as bitter, angry, insecure, heartbroken, childless, feuding, backstabbing monsters because whether we want to admit it or not, it changes the way all women view themselves. And shame on these websites for now targeting an even younger demographic, instilling this at an earlier age when girls are even more susceptible, more vulnerable and more malleable. When we write these headlines we teach hate. I’ve seen it firsthand. Let’s shift what we put into the universe starting now, & hopefully we will start to see a shift in the way we treat each other & view ourselves?”

Uit de nieuwste afleveringstills van ‘The Vampire Diaries’ blijkt dat Kai gespeeld door acteur Chris Woods terug is!

With only five episodes left, The Vampire Diaries is working its way toward its conclusion, and so far, that has meant the return of a number of familiar faces, from Nina Dobrev to David Anders, and most recently, a potential return by Steven R. McQueen. But ahead of the series finale, it looks like we can expect at least one more familiar face in Mystic Falls.

The CW has released photos from the Feb. 17 episode of the show, in which Kai Parker makes his return. Kai, played by Chris Wood, first arrived on the show in season 6 and is best known for being the villain who put Elena into the magical coma in which she currently rests.

Based on the episode’s description, Damon and Alaric’s search to find a way to destroy Cade will bring them face to face with “an old enemy.” And perhaps that old enemy will have some advice about waking Elena up? Time will tell.

Nina heeft de cast en crewleden van ‘The Vampire Diaries’ speciaal gegraveerde ‘Giving Keys’ kettingen gegeven met daarin de tekst ‘TVDForever’. Sinds vorig jaar is Nina samen met haar vriendin Julianne Hough het gezicht van de promotiecampagne voor het merk ‘Giving Keys’.

Nina heeft op haar laatste filmdag van ‘The Vampire Diaries’ een afscheidsbrief geschreven aan fans voor hun steun.

“It feels like it was just yesterday that I was saying goodbye. And yet two years have passed and here we are again. This is my true final goodbye, as today I shot my last scene of the Vampire Diaries forever. Coming back for the series finale has been a whirlwind of emotion, nostalgia, love, tears of joy and bittersweet endings. It feels like the beautiful closure we all needed, myself included, and I couldn’t have been happier to come home to be with my TVD set family and friends.”

“I feel the fans family will also be happy with the show’s conclusion when they tune in to watch the last episode air in a few short weeks. From the bottom of my heart, I send you my biggest thanks for the countless years of implicit dedication, passion, support, and undying love from all the fans that have stuck with us on this truly amazing and beautiful journey.”

“As this last chapter ends, we welcome and look forward to going on to the next adventure and hope that you continue to follow us as our new journeys begin, I grew up on this show and am eternally grateful for all the opportunities it has given me, and so thankful for each and every person who worked on The Vampire Diaries over the last 8 years. Actrice Nathalie Kelley die dit seizoen te zien is als Sybil in ‘The Vampire Diaries’ heeft en van de hoofdrollen gescoort in de nieuwe reboot van de serie Dynasty op The CW.

The CW’s multicultural Dynasty reboot has found its leading lady — and as you can see from this photo, she already has plenty of practice entering rooms via grandiose staircases!

Nathalie Kelley, currently recurring as evil siren Sybil on The Vampire Diaries, will star in the Dynasty pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Her character, Cristal, is a Hispanic woman set to marry WASPy billionaire Blake Carrington, immediately putting her at odds with Blake’s daughter Fallon (still to be cast).

Much like the original Dynasty — which ran from 1981 to 1989 on ABC — The CW’s proposed reboot will follow two of America’s wealthiest families, the Colbys and the aforementioned Carringtons.

Ook Steven R. McQueen die de rol van Jeremy Gilbert speelde zal terugkeren in de laatste aflevering van ‘The Vampire Diaries’

Jeremy Gilbert is heading back to Mystic Falls to say good morning to his sister. (Well, “sister.”)

Steven R. McQueen on Friday Instagrammed a picture of himself on the Atlanta set of The Vampire Diaries, where the gang is currently filming the final episode of the series:

Though McQueen left the show midway through its sixth season, he returned for that finale, which happened to be Nina Dobrev’s final appearance — until the series finale — as Elena.

Of course, McQueen is hardly the only fan-favorite actor returning for the big farewell. Thanks to the magic of social media, we know that David Anders (John Gilbert), Kayla Ewell (Vicki Donovan) and Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood) are among those popping in for the finale.
