FLASHBACKS TO FREYA’S CHILDHOOD — Suspicious of where her true loyalties lie, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) invites Freya (guest star Riley Voelkel) to the compound in order to gain more insight into her past with Dahlia. After a series of strange visions, Rebekah (guest star Maisie Richardson-Sellers) begins to realize the body she’s inhabiting is attempting to regain control. With Rebekah’s life on the line, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) puts his bargaining skills to the test when he turns to Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood), who may have some knowledge that could help them. Lastly, at the bayou, Jackson’s (guest star Nathan Parsons) frustrations grow after Aiden (guest star Colin Woodell) questions his leadership skills. Daniel Gillies, Phoebe Tonkin and Leah Pipes also star. Kellie Cyrus directed the episode written by Michael Russo (#216). Original airdate 3/16/2015.

Upon learning that Rebekah is in danger, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) seeks out a respected elder witch, Josephine (guest star Meg Foster), in the hopes she might offer her assistance. Meanwhile, tensions build when Klaus (Joseph Morgan) clashes with Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Jackson (guest star Nathan Parsons) over how best to protect baby Hope from Finn (Yusuf Gatewood). Elsewhere, Freya (guest star Riley Voelkel), convinces Finn to bring her to Mikael (guest star Sebastian Roche), the father she hasn’t seen in over a thousand years. Lastly, a confrontation with Freya leaves Elijah and Klaus questioning whether they can trust their long-lost sister.

Meanwhile, when Caroline’s (Candice Accola) plan for Stefan (Paul Wesley) backfires, she is left to pick up the pieces. Elsewhere, back at Whitmore College, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) and Alaric’s (Matt Davis) attempt to reel Caroline back in doesn’t quite go as planned when they realize they’re outmaneuvered. Meanwhile, after seeking answers from Kai (guest star Chris Wood) about the prison world, Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) world is turned upside when he learns some devastating news about his mother Lily (guest star Annie Wersching). Elsewhere, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) finds himself becoming increasingly intrigued by Sarah Salvatore (guest star Tristan Mays), and Bonnie (Kat Graham) begins to struggle with the effects of being back in the real world.
